Hospital activities
The general hospital, based in Alicante, Spain, is engaged in providing a comprehensive range of healthcare services. It was founded in 1977 by Dr. Federico Manero Guardiola under the name Centro Clínico San Carlos. In 2001, the centre was modernized and expanded its human and technological resources to create a new medical centre known as Hospital Internacional Medimar. The hospital provides medical and surgical specialities in various medical fields, such as allergy, gastroenterology, gastroscopy, hepatology, cardiology, dermatology, endocrinology, geriatrics, family medicine and home care, and internal and preventive medicine. It employs the most up-to-date technological, diagnostic and therapeutic facilities, including magnetic resonance, P.E.T. (Positron Emission Tomography), nuclear medicina unit, ABBI (a system for the diagnosis and treatment of breast pathology), inpatient building, outpatient clinic for minor operations without hospitalization, and an emergency unit.
